Sea Superiority: Bateaux Down Jets with Big Win

It was hardly a contest when all was said and done as Bateaux trounced Poskin Jets FC 0-7, and it was a big win for a few reasons. Most importantly, our current win streak was extended to seven games (8-0-1). The club have also won eight consecutive games in Barron, WI dating back to 2020. Lastly, we maintained our undefeated record away from home in 2022.

David Ripplinger got the scoring started with a headed effort in the 15th minute off a wonderful looping cross from Elliott Solberg. Ripp would then double his tally and our advantage with another goal in the 32nd minute. He then turned from scorer to provider, laying on an assist for Gage Espanet in the 40th minute. We went into halftime with a 0-3 lead that easily could have been doubled if not for their GK.

The second half went much like the first in terms of control. Solberg extended our lead to four just after the restart with a shot that resembled a cross. Regardless of the intent, it landed in the back of the net. Ripp then completed his hat trick in the 55th minute. Shortly after, he put a left-footed shot off the bar, left post, and out. Fine margins.

Aside from the goals, he also laid on three assists taking his season tally to 13 goals and 7 assists. After spending most of last season out of form or hurt, it's been a welcomed return to full fitness for both player and club.

Espy would complete his brace with a goal in the 65th minute quickly followed up by Jeremy Goodrie's second goal of the season in the 73rd minute. This one was a trademark Jeremy rocket off his favored left foot which left the GK with no real chance to save it.

We generated a few chances as the game closed out but couldn't add to the tally on the day. Still, a seven goal margin of victory is nothing to shake a stick at. The win sets up two crucial final weekends (three games total) starting with next weekend at home to Hayward Wolfpack FC. BOX SCORE: GOALS: Ripplinger - 15' (Solberg), 32' (Kreutzfeldt), 55'; Espanet - 40' (Ripplinger), 63' (Rosenberger); Solberg - 48' (Ripplinger); Goodrie - 73' (Ripplinger)

No yellow or red cards were handed out to Bateaux FC.
